Living style: Bohemian

Bohemian living style

A Bohemian style home is like a treasure trove where every object tells a story and evokes memories. Artistic and personal; a colorful mix of colors, materials and styles – anything but within the lines!

Keywords are exotic & electric.

If you like Boho, you like to travel and you love adventure. You like to take souvenirs from your travels to fill your treasure room. You also like artistic accessories and collect art. Your home is also decorated with your antique finds.

The Boho style is all about the decoration. For example, a graphic rug, rattan baskets and textiles with brightly colored prints, fringes and beads. A wall decoration with the Aztec print is a must.

Which furniture fits in a Bohemian style interior?

Large and comfortable sofas or chairs with round shapes. Think of a large corner sofa, a comfortable armchair in cheerful colours, a hammock or wicker hanging chair and rattan poufs. Furniture made of natural materials form the basis of a Bohemian style interior. For example, materials such as wood, rattan, bamboo, cotton, linen and leather.

The colors

Combination of a neutral base color with green accents. Plants already provide a green touch, but accessories with tropical prints should not be missing. Or show a tropical print as wall decoration. In contrast, there is a pronounced bohemian style with lots of color. This is mainly reflected in busy, colorful prints. Pink, orange, turquoise and yellow are colors that provide the cheerful Ibiza atmosphere.

Material use

Natural materials are a must. Rattan, bamboo, woven reed and wood in particular are central to both furniture and accessories: from a rattan bench or mirror to a wicker side table or basket. Textiles can be found everywhere in a bohemian interior. From a carpet on the floor and a tapestry on the wall to a sheepskin over the chair and cushions on the sofa. Rich materials with a high cuddle factor, such as soft velvet, embroidered cushions, are seen a lot.

Wall decoration in the Bohemian style

Within the boho style there are 2 extremes. Dessert Boho. This is challenging and introvert. The materials, colors and textures from the desert areas and North Africa. Ton sur ton color use, rich decorations and basic material. Here the travelstories 019 fits in well.

The other extreme is Boho ibiza. This is challenging and extrovert. Busy prints and lots of color. Images from our Funky series fit this interior perfectly.

If there is one thing that characterizes the bohemian style, it is that anything goes. So deviate from the beaten path and collect things around you that you like, even if they do not match in terms of style at first glance. Mix a velvet sofa with sleek lighting and a Dutch tulip vase. It is precisely this melting pot of styles that fits well with the boho feeling.

Mix with new and second-hand items. Vintage finds are perfect for a Bohemian interior. This way you provide a personal touch in the interior.
