Who is Ilse van Stoltz?
Ilse van Stoltz, a visual artist from The Hague, creates abstract artworks with earthy colours and strong lines. After years of painting for friends, she is now focusing on a wider audience. Her intuitive approach and "The Intuitive" series for Wandkraft reflect her search for artistic balance, inspired by interior design, fashion, and dance. All of Ilse van Stoltz's images are executed as acoustic paintings (Feltro Acustico) or Structure Art.

Wat is akoestiek?
Reflectie – de oorzaak van galm
In rooms with hard surfaces – think of bare walls, ceilings and floors – sound waves are constantly bouncing back and forth. These reflections cause a disturbing echo effect, or reverb. This quickly makes a room noisy and tiring.
Absorptie – de sleutel tot rust
To understand why an acoustic painting makes such a big difference, it is good to first consider the concept of acoustics. Simply put, acoustics is about how sound behaves in a space. And you can influence that yourself.
Geluidsniveau in balans
Sound is measured in decibels (dB). For a pleasant living environment, aim for a level between 40–50 dB. Too much reverberation increases the sound pressure in a room – and you will notice it. Wandkraft helps you to bring this level back into balance.

De werking van Feltro Acustico
Feltro Acustico is geen gewoon schilderij – het is een stille kracht in jouw interieur.
Achter het stijlvolle ontwerp schuilt een uitgekiende technologie die galm en echo’s drastisch vermindert. Onze akoestische schilderijen zijn opgebouwd uit lagen hoogwaardig akoestisch vilt, gemaakt van tot wel 60 % gerecyclede PET-flessen. Dit materiaal is speciaal ontwikkeld om geluidsgolven te absorberen in plaats van terug te kaatsen. De open vezelstructuur van het vilt zorgt ervoor dat geluid wordt ‘gevangen’ en verspreid, in plaats van dat het blijft rondzingen in de ruimte.
Met een geluidsabsorptiewaarde van NRC 0,75 vangt Feltro Acustico maar liefst 75% van de geluidsgolven op die anders door jouw muren en plafond zouden weerkaatsen.
Dat maakt het een effectieve oplossing voor ruimtes waarin rust, verstaanbaarheid en sfeer belangrijk zijn – van woonkamers en thuiskantoren tot horeca en vergaderruimtes. Dankzij de strakke vormgeving en keuze uit reliëf of print, draagt Feltro Acustico niet alleen bij aan een betere akoestiek, maar ook aan een stijlvol en harmonieus interieur. Wetenschappelijke bewijsvoering
De werking van onze akoestische schilderijen is niet alleen hoorbaar, maar ook aantoonbaar bewezen. Feltro Acustico is ontwikkeld op basis van akoestisch onderzoek en getest volgens internationale normen voor geluidsabsorptie. Het gebruikte PET-vilt heeft een NRC-waarde van 0,75 (Noise Reduction Coefficient). Dat betekent dat het materiaal 75% van het geluid absorbeert dat ermee in aanraking komt. Deze waarde is het resultaat van laboratoriumtesten waarbij de prestaties van akoestische materialen worden gemeten in gecontroleerde omgevingen. Het geheim zit in de microstructuur van het vilt: duizenden kleine poriën vangen geluidsgolven op en zetten ze om in minimale warmte-energie. Geen reflectie, geen echo – alleen rust. Daarnaast wordt er door de lijst een spouw gecreëerd van 3cm die de absorptie versterkt.
Acoustic Cavity
Thanks to the frame between the felt and the wall, Wandkraft creates an acoustic cavity. This clever construction doubles sound absorption compared to a stretched fabric with felt mounted flush to the wall.
When an acoustic panel is placed directly on a wall without an air gap, the effect is minimal. It may look nice, but acoustically it does almost nothing. Without the air gap, low frequencies are barely absorbed, and the room still sounds hollow or reverberant. Many people expect a big difference, but end up disappointed.
